Click Testing: Uncovering User Intentions
Click Testing is a usability testing method where participants are presented with a static image of a web page or user interface, such as a screenshot or mock-up, and then asked to click on the area where they would perform a certain action. The goal is to gauge whether the design is guiding users to click in the right places.
For instance, if you want to test whether users can easily find the 'Add to Cart' button on an e-commerce website, you would conduct a click test. The data gathered from Click Testing includes where users clicked first, the percentage of clicks on the correct area, and the time it took for users to make their first click.
Click Testing is a simple and quick way to validate design assumptions and can be performed early in the design process. It's especially useful for testing navigation paths and call-to-action buttons. However, it's important to remember that Click Testing is limited to analysing isolated interactions and does not replicate the full user experience.
